Nu-Line Construction Manages Storm Water with Eco-Friendly Constructiondetention-basin (1)

During El Nino and major flood events, storm water runoff from urban and industrial centers flows directly to our beaches and into the ocean, dumping large amounts of pollutants and contaminants that can cause harm to local marine environments and pose major health risks to people.

Nu-Line Construction, general contractor operating in Oxnard, has recently constructed a new 26,000 square foot industrial warehouse and office building at 1551 Pacific Avenue in the Channel Islands Business Center which is helping to treat and retain storm water with an innovative construction technology called EcoRain.

According to Nick Tomasello, Project Manager at Nu-Line, “The Ecorain units are composed of 100% recycled polypropylene. As water moves into the storm drain, it collects in the EcoRain system which acts as a filter and holding tank, allowing the water to percolate naturally back into the groundwater aquifers.”DSC00089 (3)


The 1,680 square foot system is capable of retaining over 6,000 cubic feet of water, and is sufficient to capture and treat runoff from effectively all major flood events.

“The system reduces the amount of runoff and pollutants that reach our beaches, and it helps minimize potential damage to property caused by flood waters by reducing their frequency and severity. It’s a win-win.” said Tomasello.
